Birthday Blog
Before my b-day festivities commence (I turn 33 today!), just had to get a couple things out.
First, I found a great article about Limited Atonement. It shows convincingly that the difficult doctrine of limited (particular) atonement is inseparably linked to the other five Biblical points of Calvinism. Here is the compelling article by John Hendryx ...
Is it Possible to Deny Limited Atonement?
On the lighter side, I really like the SacredSandwich website. It's funny. Click the Twin Theologians for a very funny review of the new movie Fireproof.

Also, by far one of the funniest things I have ever read (certainly in the last month), is about what happens when a church potluck dinner goes terribly wrong!

It will certainly make you think twice about bringing green-bean casserole!
Churchgoers Survive Potluck Nightmare
Finally, here is a poem I came across in MacArthur's Think Biblically! (p. 53) Kate B. Wilkenson expresses what our desire should be as followers of Christ:

Wild at Heart by John Eldredge
Please take a few minutes to read Daryl Wingerd's book review of Wild at Heart, by John Eldredge.
A Critical Review of John Eldredge's Wild at Heart
Wingerd does a terrific job of warning of the 3 major (and they are major) problems of the WILDLY popular book.
The three major problems with Wild at Heart are summarized in this paragraph: "First, Eldredge mishandles Scripture badly. Second, the central theme of the book is not consistent with the teaching of the Bible. Third, Eldredge conveys a low, humanistic, and even heretical view of God."
Tim Challies also does a review of the book here:
Challies Review
Finally, "rumor has it" that several hundred copies of Wild at Heart were inadvertently released with a rejected design for the cover. Here is a closer look ...

Tom in the Box

Came across a very funny blog site recently and it has been quickly added to my "blogroll"!
From the website: "Team Tominthebox News Network® is a satirical online blog written by Tom Slawson, V. Carlos Slawson Jr. and Eric Carpenter. … The purpose of this blog is to make a point through the use of satire. Soli Deo Gloria!"
Last year they did a laugh-out-loud parody of the SuperBowl called SuperBox. Instead of football the teams were conducting a theological debate. The teams? James White's A&O Calvinists vs Dave Hunt's Berean Call. No matter what side you fall on the Calvinist/Arminian debate, you will laugh when you hear this!
